The Christ on the 2026 Seville Holy Week (Semana Santa) poster is the Cristo de las Misericordias (Christ of Mercies), the titular image of the Santa Cruz brotherhood. The poster, by Antoine Cas, is titled "La Cruz Santa de Sevilla".

Which Christ appears on the 2026 poster?
A crucifix: the Cristo de las Misericordias, attributed to the circle of Pedro Roldán and dated to the 17th century, according to the brotherhood's page in the 2023 El Llamador programme. It is the image on the brotherhood's first float, the Santa Cruz brotherhood founded in 1904 to venerate a crucifix from the former parish church.
The second float is the canopied float of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, by Antonio Eslava Rubio, from 1967. The 2026 poster focuses on the Christ, accompanied by a figure of Mary Magdalene, according to the presentation by the General Council of Brotherhoods.

When and where does the Cristo de las Misericordias go out?
The brotherhood is based in the parish church of Santa Cruz, on Calle Mateos Gago, and in the 2023 edition it went out on Holy Tuesday, closing the day. El Llamador describes a short return route but through corners of the quarter such as the Plaza de la Alianza and Calle Rodrigo Caro.
It is a small brotherhood by Seville standards: 600 nazarenos, 33 minutes and 2,000 members in 2023, according to the same programme. Its processional cross reproduces the Cruz de la Cerrajería on the Plaza de Santa Cruz; no source consulted says whether the poster's title alludes to it.

No. Of the last four posters, only two portray a Christ and the other two a Virgin. No published rule requires them to alternate.

The 2024 poster was the most controversial, with memes on social media and discontent among some brotherhood members, according to Infobae and Los 40. The 2026 one returns to a named carving with its own brotherhood, that of a discreet brotherhood in the historic centre.
What is known about the 2027 poster?
Only the artist's name. The Council appointed Jorge Gallego on 23 September 2026. La Voz del Sur presents him as a painter from Montellano who trained with Antonio López.
In the same outlet, Gallego describes the commission as "more advertising than art" and warns that he will not overlook the gentrification Seville is going through. Which image he will paint, whether a Christ or a Virgin, and the title of the work have not been published.
Nor is there a date for the unveiling. The 2026 poster was presented on Monday 2 February 2026 at 20:00, in the auditorium of the Fundación Caja Rural del Sur, and Holy Week 2027 is expected from 21 to 28 March 2027, with Ash Wednesday on 10 February 2027.
Holy Week 2027 falls in March, a week earlier than in 2026, and the poster will be unveiled when rooms in the centre are already scarce. If you want to see that Christ in the street, you have more room for manoeuvre booking now than waiting for the poster.
